For Women Who Wish to Understand Their Power.

Female power did not start with the feminist movement. It did not start with the #Me2 movement. Female power is a primal grounding force that crosses generations, cultures, and continents. It is connected to the body, to instinct, to intuition, and to nature. Power compounds as it is used and powerlessness compounds as power is not used. So how do we harness our female power in today's world - at work, at home, in our lives? How do we understand our power, use our power and keep our power?

This presentation raises and answers these questions and provides practical advice a woman can use today at work, at home, and in society.

For Women Who Wish to Know More About Estate Planning.

“The Power of the Purse: Empowering Women to Protect Their Wealth and Legacy”

Women control or influence 75 percent of the total personal wealth in the United States today, fill more than half the jobs, earn more than half the college degrees, and make up the fastest-growing sector of new business owners. Yet most American women have not taken steps to put the legal mechanisms in place through estate planning to protect their assets, their families, and themselves. Women spend a considerable amount of time taking care of others and do not remember what the flight attendant says at the beginning of each flight: “If the oxygen mask falls from the sky put the mask over your own face first.” Women need to be reminded that it is important to do that. When a woman protects herself she is able to protect others.

This down to earth, nuts and bolts presentation makes a complicated process easily accessible by explaining away the legal jargon, bringing the issues to life with real-life stories, and addressing the concerns of women in all age and economic groups. The first time a new mother leaves her baby with a sitter, she leaves detailed instructions. Estate planning is a way to leave instructions for a lifetime, a way to make sure that if anything ever happens to you, the person you want to take care of your children will do so, your directions will determine the care they will be given, and your finances will be great enough to cover all costs. This presentation is for women with significant assets, women with concerns about their financial futures, women with elderly parents, and women with special needs children. It is for single, married, divorced, widowed, and remarrying women. In short, this presentation is for any woman who wants to control her own financial destiny, protect herself, and protect those she cares about most.

For Those Who Advise Women Clients and Donors

Engaging Women in Estate Planning: The Difference is More than Switching Pronouns.

Today women control or influence more than 75 percent of the total personal wealth in the United States and many have not done estate planning to protect their assets, their families, and themselves. The baby boomer woman is a “double inheritor”. She will inherit from her parents and from her spouse. A tremendous amount of wealth will pass into the hands of the baby boomer woman and it is important that she be educated on what this means and what choices she has when planning. This nuts and bolts presentation shows why working with women clients requires a different approach than working with men. It includes a practical discussion of how to approach the female client, what the female client wants most to understand, what the female client fears the most and what motivates the female client to take action.

For Artists and Those Who Collect Art.

This is an important presentation for those who are artists and those who own art, antiques, or collectibles. The presentation addresses how art can impact gift and estate taxes, the importance of qualified appraisals and why they are needed, what the IRS requires to claim a charitable deduction for gift of art and how to maximize tax benefits. It explores the benefits of various giving options for art, such as charitable trusts and addresses the importance of practical discussions with your heirs and the charitable organizations you are considering to gift the art to.

For Those Generally Interested in Estate Planning.

“New Times New Risks: Practical Strategies to Protect Your Family’s Intellectual, Social, and Financial Wealth.”

Estate Planning is trickier than ever. Many people sign documents and believe they have a plan. The reality is that those documents are a snapshot and planning must contemplate a movie (with sequels) as life evolves. A proper estate plan is evolutionary and should address planning for disability or diminishing capacity, choice of domicile, multi domicile families, estate taxation, gifting strategies, who to leave assets to, whether or not establishing revocable or irrevocable trusts is important. The presentation will address planning for both traditional and non-traditional families. It will provide an understanding of how the cycles of life (marriage, separation, divorce, and remarriage) impact financial and estate planning, including the importance of prenuptial agreements, postnuptial agreements. It will also address changes rippling through the country and their impact on financial and estate planning including: statutes authorizing children conceived after death, pre-death will contests, and the impact of assisted reproductive technology. It will touch on planning for unusual assets, digital assets, vacation homes, vineyards, ranches, and pets.
